Delaware Speedway Unveils Details of New Transmission Direct Enduro Kickstart Program
April 8, 2008 John Houghton
In recent years GM products have been the most popular choice of vehicle in Transmission Direct Enduro competition. The new Kickstart program hopes to increase the diversity of vehicles in the field by paying a $100 bonus to the top finishing non-GM racing vehicle (ie. Dodge, Ford, Toyota, Volvo etc.) On another front, with their increasing availability, six-cylinder cars have become more accessible and cost effective but have rarely been seen in the Transmission Direct Enduro Series. The new Kickstart program hopes to change that, paying $100 to the top finishing six-cylinder vehicle.
Drivers who often find themselves finishing outside the money beyond 40th position also have reason to celebrate the Kickstart program. At the beginning of each event there will be a random position drawn outside the top 40. The position will be sealed in an envelope and revealed in victory lane at the completion of the race. That position will be paid a $100 bonus.
Creativity will also be the name of the game. For one special, “unique” car, the Delaware Speedway video team will be offering a complementary DVD of that race as a prize. There will also be pre-race recognitions for best appearing, “ugly-tough” and other unique vehicles.
The Kickstart program encourages diversity of vehicles, but also seeks to increase the range of competitors who have the opportunity to enjoy Transmission Direct Enduro racing. To reflect this aim, Delaware Speedway will also be offering a $500 bonus to any female driver who is able to WIN a Transmission Direct Enduro.
Delaware Speedway has also taken the step of increasing the racing purse by over $500 per event for 2008. When combined with the new kick start programs, approximately $5000 in prizing is potentially available at each Transmission Direct Enduro event.
Don’t miss a lap of the action! The first Transmission Direct Enduro 250 of the year is on opening day, April 26. Spectator gates open at 1:00 PM with racing beginning at 2:00 PM. Pit gates open at 11:00 AM. For the first time in many years, the Transmission Direct Enduro will be playing host to a new group of cars and drivers when the Ultimate Sandblasting & Coating Chaos Cars hold their first exhibition before the event. |
